The NovaStar CVT4K-S is a fibre converter designed to transmit data from an LED control system over a fibre-optic link before distributing it to multiple network connections. It thus centralises the transmission of 16 Ethernet links within a single unit, with an architecture designed to maintain uninterrupted communication between video processing and the display.

Data distribution is a key element in a large-scale LED installation, particularly when several network links need to be routed over a considerable distance. The NovaStar CVT4K-S addresses this issue by providing conversion between four optical links and up to 16 Ethernet outputs for display equipment.

The CVT4K-S features four 10G SFP slots using modules with LC connectors. The required modules are supplied with the unit. In its single-mode configuration, transmission can reach up to 10 km, whilst benefiting from the inherent characteristics of a fibre link: low susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and the ability to effectively separate signal processing from the display section.

One of the distinctive features of the NovaStar CVT4K-S is its design focused on operational continuity. The optical ports are redundant to enable a secure transmission architecture, whilst the internal power supply also features redundancy. This dual approach reduces the number of single points of failure that could interrupt data distribution. The 16 Ethernet outputs also feature front-panel indicators, allowing visual monitoring of the status of the various links.

The converter is designed to work with compatible NovaStar controllers, notably the MCTRL4K, NovaPro UHD Jr and NovaPro UHD. Port mapping is managed via software, allowing the assignment of outputs to be adapted to the chosen configuration.
