Novastar - NovaPro UHD Jr

The NovaStar NovaPro UHD Jr combines several functions that are usually spread across different pieces of equipment into a single controller. It handles video source processing, image scaling, LED screen configuration and send-card functions all in one. This architecture reduces the number of devices required in the video chain whilst retaining advanced source and display management.

The connectivity options cover the main formats used in today’s video environments: one DisplayPort 1.2 input, one HDMI 2.0 input, four DVI inputs and two 12G-SDI inputs. The NovaPro UHD Jr supports sources up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz via HDMI and DisplayPort, whilst the 12G-SDI inputs support up to 4096 × 2160 at 60 Hz. The four DVI inputs can also be grouped into a mosaic to create a wider source from multiple inputs.

In terms of processing, the controller features scaling functions with several resizing modes, including full-screen, pixel-by-pixel and custom cropping. It also allows users to manage up to three layers with a background, create backgrounds from a colour or an image, and capture a source for reuse as a background. HDR10 support complements the image processing for compatible set-ups.

Distribution to the LED screen is handled via 16 Neutrik Gigabit Ethernet outputs, with a maximum advertised capacity of 10.4 million pixels. Four 10G optical outputs also facilitate data transmission, with options for mirroring and redundancy depending on the configuration used. The controller can therefore support large-format screens, with a maximum width of 16,384 pixels and a height of up to 8,192 pixels.

Finally, the NovaPro UHD Jr incorporates practical operational features: EDID management, 10 user presets, decimal frame rates of 23.98, 29.97 and 59.94 Hz, low latency with certain NovaStar receiver cards, and control via V-Can. Up to four units can also be combined to build a configuration designed for very large screens.
