On stage, Marcus Miller impresses as much with his technical mastery as with his musical energy. His concerts alternate virtuoso solos, powerful funk grooves and more atmospheric passages influenced by modern jazz. He often leads his groups with a great deal of improvisational freedom, letting each musician express himself to the full. Marcus also plays bass clarinet during certain pieces, adding a special sonic colour to his performances. His interaction with the audience and the musicians helps to create a very lively atmosphere. Even after a career spanning several decades, he is still regarded as one of the most dynamic and respected artists on the international jazz scene.
