There is a family of flamenco guitars that breaks with the tradition of using cypress, and Martinez’s Almeria Rosewood belongs to this rarer lineage. Here, rosewood is used for the sides and back – a denser material that lends the bass notes an unusual depth for this style, whilst retaining the crisp attack characteristic of flamenco.

The solid spruce top captures this density and reproduces it with a lively tone, whilst the rosewood bridge transmits the vibration to the strings with consistency. The mahogany neck meets an ebony fingerboard, a smooth surface tailored for picado scales and rapid runs. The 650 mm scale length and 50 mm nut width adhere to the narrow specifications of flamenco guitars, making for a neck that feels instantly familiar to players coming from a classical guitar background.

On the electronics front, the Fishman Presys preamp features a built-in tuner, a three-band EQ, a notch filter to suppress feedback, a balance control between pickups and a phase switch – a comprehensive suite of features for live performance.
