Martinez has its roots in Germany, dating back to 1978. In 2005, the American luthier Kenny Hill joined the project as a technical adviser. This collaboration brings recognised expertise in American luthiery whilst retaining a strong influence from the classical European and Spanish traditions.

One of the interesting aspects of Martinez is its hybrid approach: the brand has developed modern equipment and CNC processes to improve the precision of certain stages, whilst retaining the manual operations essential to the crafting of a classical guitar. The brand also states that it employs luthiers with many years’ experience.
