Presentation
The NovaStar CX40 Pro is a 4K LED screen controller designed to centralise the processing and distribution of video content within a display installation. It forms part of the COEX series and is intended for set-ups where multiple sources need to be combined, adjusted and distributed to an LED screen covering up to several million pixels.
Its architecture supports various types of video signals to facilitate integration into an existing production workflow. HDMI, DisplayPort and 12G-SDI, in particular, enable it to work with computer sources, professional video equipment or SDI infrastructure. The HDMI and SDI inputs also feature output loops, which makes it easier to daisy-chain multiple pieces of equipment without requiring multiple signal conversions.
Once the sources have been received, the CX40 Pro can organise up to three independent layers and assign different priority levels to them. Each layer can be resized using several modes, allowing the image composition to be adapted to the LED surface being used. The controller also incorporates tools for colour replacement, 14-channel colour correction, RGBW curve management and 3D LUT processing. Support for HDR10 and HLG completes this suite of features for high dynamic range content.
Distribution to the screen is via six 5 Gbps Ethernet outputs and a 40 Gbps optical link. The CX40 Pro also features a Genlock to synchronise the display with other equipment in the system. Its processing can operate in All-In-One or Send-Only mode, with the latter further reducing latency.
Control can be carried out using VMP, NovaStar’s video management platform, or directly from the unit itself via its 5.5-inch IPS touchscreen, scroll wheel and navigation button. Art-Net, SNMP and central control protocols also allow it to be integrated into larger control systems.
