Novastar - ET1S-G

The NovaStar ET1S-G offers a particularly versatile approach to video broadcasting by combining several output options in a 1U media server. Its 4K capability allows it to work with a single large screen or with several smaller display surfaces. The video output can be configured to use a single HDMI 2.0 connection at 4K and 60 Hz, dual DisplayPort 1.2 outputs, or four HDMI 1.3 outputs at 2K and 60 Hz.

This configuration offers various ways of distributing content depending on the chosen set-up. The outputs also feature EDID locking, which preserves the display settings defined for the connected screens and prevents unintended changes to resolution or refresh rate.

Content playback is handled by Kompas FX1, the licence for which is supplied with the NovaStar ET1S-G. The software allows management of up to four simultaneous playback layers and provides the functions required to organise and control media. Content can also be integrated from various sources, whilst NDI support allows video streams from a compatible network environment to be added.

The ET1S-G features a hardware platform based on a 5th-generation AMD Ryzen processor, accompanied by 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 250 GB SSD. A USB keyboard and mouse are supplied to facilitate operation directly from the control room. The RJ45 connection handles data transfer and network integration, whilst the USB ports allow various peripherals to be connected.

An important feature concerns the operation of the DisplayPort outputs: the 4K/2K output from DP 1.2 is duplicated to the HDMI 2.0 port or to the four HDMI 1.3 ports. These two modes cannot therefore be used simultaneously. This architecture nevertheless allows the server to be quickly adapted to the required broadcast type.
