Novastar - ET2S-G

With the NovaStar ET2S-G, NovaStar offers a 2U media server designed for small and medium-scale LED installations, with sufficient processing power to create displays spanning multiple surfaces. Its design features three main video outputs – one DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 – which can be used individually or combined to form a video wall. Each output can support resolutions of up to 4,096 × 2,160 at 60 Hz, and by combining the outputs, configurations of up to 16,384 pixels in width or height can be managed.

The benefit of this architecture extends beyond simply increasing the display area. The ET2S-G also allows users to split, merge or rotate output zones, and to divide a single output into multiple partitions. This flexibility makes it easier to create irregular layouts, ultra-wide screens or configurations combining multiple display areas. The unit can also handle up to eight playback levels accompanied by an audio stream.

Content management is handled by Kompass FX2, the licence for which is supplied with the server in the form of a dongle. The software allows you to organise a multimedia library and work with various types of sources, including videos, images, PowerPoint files, web pages, streaming feeds, NDI sources and audio content. NDI thus provides an additional option for integrating feeds from other equipment or production environments.

In terms of hardware, the NovaStar ET2S-G combines a 12th-generation Intel Core processor, 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 500 GB SSD. The server also features several USB ports for peripherals and external storage devices, whilst its network and control connections enable integration into the NovaStar ecosystem. The VICP platform can complement this setup to enable remote playback control.
