Presentation
The Jet Guitars JJB-300 BK doesn’t just talk the talk — it walks the walk. The black of the roasted poplar body — top, back and sides all from the same oven — absorbs light just as the bass absorbs unwanted frequencies: no compromise. This heat treatment densifies the response at the lower end of the spectrum and lightens the overall weight. You can feel the result in your arms before you hear it in the monitors.
The Modern C-profile neck, crafted from roasted Canadian maple, spans 20 frets across a scale length of 863.6 mm — the standard 34-inch scale, upon which the entire bass-making industry has built its benchmarks. The rosewood fingerboard smooths thumb sliding without sacrificing the attack of the bass strings. The 304.8 mm radius, flatter than on a guitar, follows the contours of a hand that spans several octaves in a single movement. The 41.9 mm nut width defines the spacing between the four strings — wide enough for fingerstyle playing without muddying the notes when using a pick.
The two JB-style pickups are the heart of the instrument. One at the neck position for a warm, round low end, one at the bridge position for bite and definition: the 2-volume, 1-tone wiring allows both tones to be adjusted independently, a freedom that jazz and rock bassists have always sought. The fixed 2-point bridge with 4 saddles anchors each string with equal precision. The bone nut keeps the tuning tight at the headstock. The red tortoiseshell pickguard stands out against the black — a detail that reminds us that great basses have always known how to make a statement. D'Addario strings fitted as standard: plug in and play.
