Novastar - Card IN 2x HDMI 2.1 - MX Series

To integrate the latest video sources into an LED display system, the input connectivity must be able to keep pace with developments in the formats used by computers, media servers and other video equipment. The NovaStar Card IN 2x HDMI 2.1 – MX Series provides two HDMI 2.1 inputs directly into the MX Series Main Frames, thereby enabling high-resolution sources to be centralised within the processing system.

Each of the two inputs supports signals of up to 8192 × 4320 at 30 Hz, equivalent to 8K resolution. The card also supports refresh rates of up to 240 Hz, depending on the video format used. This combination enables work with sources having different requirements, ranging from high-resolution content to signals prioritising a high display refresh rate.

Support for high dynamic range (HDR) content is also built in. HDR10 and HLG are supported, with compatibility with the SMPTE ST 2084 and ST 2086 standards. These features enable the card to preserve the information required for HDR streams when used with a compatible video chain.

Content protection is based on HDCP 2.3, whilst maintaining backwards compatibility with HDCP versions 2.2, 1.4 and 1.3. This compatibility makes it easier to connect video sources from different generations and minimises issues related to the protection systems used by certain content.

Finally, two LED indicators on the card allow the status of received signals to be checked quickly. They indicate whether the inputs are detecting valid sources, which facilitates troubleshooting during commissioning or when a signal is lost.

Installed in a single input slot on the NovaStar MX Series Main Frame, this card therefore serves as a dedicated interface for high-resolution HDMI sources. It enables the integration of two HDMI 2.1 signals into the heart of a modular LED processing architecture, with support for current video and HDR standards.
