Novastar - Card IN 2x VGA / 2x CVBS - H Series

Not all video set-ups rely solely on modern digital connections. Some computers, control room equipment, players or specialised devices still use VGA, whilst older video sources are still available via composite output. The NovaStar Card IN 2x VGA / 2x CVBS from the H series combines these two types of signal on a single input card.

Two VGA connectors allow computer or graphics sources to be fed directly into NovaStar H2, H5, H9 and H15 chassis. Each input supports a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz, which means, for example, that Full HD computers or presentation equipment can be connected without the need for an external converter upstream.

The CVBS section provides two composite video inputs for PAL or NTSC sources. The 480i and 576i formats are therefore supported, covering the main definition standards used by analogue video equipment. These connections can be used, for example, with players, cameras, older broadcast sources or devices whose video output is limited to composite.

This combination of four different inputs gives the card a rather unique role within a video processing system: rather than focusing solely on high-definition sources, it allows heterogeneous equipment to be integrated into a modern NovaStar architecture. The signals are then integrated into the H Series’ overall processing in the same way as other sources connected to the system.
