Novastar - Card OUT 1x Fibre (40G) - MX Series

This card is used to establish the link between the video processing carried out in a NovaStar MX console and the network component that feeds the LED screens. Installed in an MX 2000 or MX 6000 Main Frame, the NovaStar Card OUT 1x Fibre (40G) – MX Series adds a 40G optical output capable of carrying display data over a single fibre link.

The principle is fairly simple: the card sends the data via fibre to the point where it is to be distributed. A converter such as the CVT8-5G-S or the CVT8-5G-M can then take this link and convert it into network connections suitable for the LED displays. This setup therefore allows for a clear separation between long-distance transmission and local distribution to the displays.

The optical output supports both single-mode and multi-mode fibre. With the appropriate module, the link can reach up to 10 km, which provides a significant margin when the processor and the displays are located in different areas. The choice of 40G SFP module depends on the fibre used and the network requirements; it is not supplied with the card.

In terms of display, the capacity reaches 17,694,720 pixels, or approximately 17.6 million pixels. The card supports 8-, 10- and 12-bit colour depths and also includes a scaling function. It can therefore be used in set-ups where the volume of data to be transmitted is high, whilst maintaining a relatively simple cabling architecture.

The OUT 1x Fibre (40G) card is part of the NovaStar 5G platform and must be used with compatible equipment from this generation. It is not intended to directly replace a previous-generation card. When paired with the appropriate fibre converter and optical modules, it acts as the output interface that enables the MX system to extend its data network to the displays.
